WORKING TOGETHER / PROJECT SUITABILITY

Project Fit & Working Principles

We assess plastic and electronic product projects against the design, manufacturing and verification work they require.

We review the product, its intended use and the work you need before agreeing to proceed. Early uncertainty is normal. The important step is to identify what must be clarified, tested or agreed, and to address it openly.

  • Assess the evidence
  • Protect customer assets
  • Resolve questions before release

01 / REVIEW THE PROJECT FAIRLY

Different concerns need different decisions

Incomplete information calls for clarification. Confirmed unacceptable requirements call for a firm boundary.

For products with plastic housings, assembled parts and defined appearance requirements, we review the fit with the proposed tooling and molding process, assembly method and quality controls. Sound, light or control functions are assessed with their integration and verification needs. Connectivity, software or more complex electronics require an individually agreed technical scope.

A WORKABLE STARTING POINT

Good fit

  • Clear commercial purpose and intended use
  • Quantities and timing that can be assessed realistically
  • Willingness to review engineering and verification needs
  • Respect for design rights and customer assets
  • Agreed approvals and manufacturing responsibilities
CLARIFY BEFORE COMMITTING

Needs discussion

  • Missing files, reports or evidence of authorization
  • Cost or schedule assumptions that need review
  • Copied-product references with unclear permitted use
  • Technical work beyond the currently defined scope
  • Open questions about material, software or responsibility

Small orders, startups and trading companies are assessed on the project’s requirements. They are not automatically excluded.

How project-fit questions are handled
Review outcomeTypical situationNext step
A suitable starting pointA clear purpose, authorized inputs and a scope that can be evaluated.Identify the service route and define the next technical or commercial review.
Clarification is neededIncomplete drawings, uncertain permissions, missing reports or an unverified concern.Request the relevant information. Pause the affected work if the unresolved issue could create a material risk.
A change could make it workableA correctable design issue, unsuitable material, unrealistic assumption or unclear responsibility.Agree the correction and its verification before committing to the affected stage.
The request cannot proceedA confirmed request for infringement, unsafe release, deception or misuse that remains unresolved.Decline the affected work; serious or repeated conduct may end the cooperation.

A trading company, strict audit requirement or request for confidentiality can be part of an ordinary business relationship. We assess the brief and supporting evidence. An online allegation or a difficult technical question is not, by itself, a reason to label a customer unsuitable.

The same applies to recycled materials, short-life products and cost reduction. Their suitability depends on intended use, material quality and verification. We establish those conditions instead of assuming that a product category is acceptable or unacceptable in every situation.

02 / RESPECT RIGHTS AND CONFIDENTIALITY

Design Rights, Customer Assets & Confidentiality

Ownership, permission and permitted use matter for drawings, code, artwork, content and physical tooling.

  1. 01
    BEFORE WORK STARTS

    Confirm the authorized inputs

Identify who controls the design, brand and supplied content. Clarify any restrictions on production, modifications or target markets. Material taken unlawfully from a previous employer or competitor cannot be used to develop a project.

  2. 02
    DURING THE PROJECT

    Protect the agreed assets

Document access and use arrangements for confidential files, samples and tooling. One customer’s drawings, commercial details or exclusive product must not become another customer’s shortcut. Production beyond agreed authorization is not acceptable.

  3. 03
    AT HANDOVER

    Make the arrangements explicit

Agree which files and physical assets are deliverables, who owns them, and the conditions for release or transfer. Customer-funded tooling, licensed components and pre-existing designs can involve different rights; record the applicable terms.

Confidential review does not create permission to disclose another party’s information. If evidence raises a significant rights question, the affected work pauses while authority or an alternative approach is established. Specialist advice may be needed for a disputed right.

03 / KEEP THE PRODUCT AND RECORDS TRUTHFUL

Safety and accurate information stay part of the scope

Cost, order value and delivery pressure do not justify hiding a material risk.

Address safety before release.

Unresolved serious problems with batteries, accessible parts, electrical protection or other hazards require corrective action. Necessary protection cannot be removed simply to meet a price.

Keep test evidence relevant.

Reports must relate to the applicable product and configuration. Substituting materials after testing, altering results or borrowing another model’s report misrepresents the product.

Describe performance honestly.

Capacity, runtime, water resistance, recycled content and functional claims need a defensible basis. Packaging must not imply unsupported medical, environmental or AI capabilities.

Keep production records accurate.

Inspection, traceability, origin and agreed production arrangements must reflect reality. Fabricated audits, hidden contract-inconsistent subcontracting, bribery and false trade records are unacceptable.

Respect people and intended use.

Work must not depend on abusive labor, unsafe working conditions, improper waste handling or concealed data collection. Privacy responsibilities need review where a product records, connects or tracks.

Required checks depend on the product, its users and its markets. Agree the product testing scope and acceptance criteria early, and reassess them when the design or materials change.

04 / MAKE COOPERATION WORKABLE

Agree the decisions each party controls

Clear commercial and technical responsibilities help a feasible product become an executable project.

Define the agreement

Define specifications, stage outputs, sample approval, payment arrangements, tooling rights and acceptance criteria before committing resources. Assign an approval owner and document changes with their cost, schedule and verification effects. A schedule must allow for necessary sampling and issue closure.

Resolve the commercial questions

Concerns about capacity, budget or responsibility are commercial questions to resolve openly. Persistent refusal to define essential terms, deliberate nonpayment or demands to absorb unlimited risks outside the agreed scope can make cooperation unworkable. A normal quality disagreement or temporary cash-flow difficulty needs its own fair assessment.

Where a concern can be corrected, define the required evidence and review it again. See How We Work for the approvals and change-control process that supports that decision.

PROJECT OUTPUTS

What you receive

Agree the applicable deliverables, their revision and approval owner in the project scope. The output must support the next decision.

Confirm the scope and acceptance criteria before authorizing the next stage.

  • A proposed service route based on the project’s current stage.

  • The questions or evidence needed before a detailed scope can be agreed.

  • Identified feasibility constraints and possible changes to the proposed approach.

  • A basis for agreeing scope, responsibilities and the next review step.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Common questions about project fit

Start with your current product information and the decision you need to make.

Can a startup or a buyer with a small order approach you?

Yes. A small order, limited budget or early-stage business is not a reason to dismiss a project. We assess the actual scope, process, quantity and resource needs. If the proposed route is unsuitable, the review can identify a narrower first stage or another practical approach.

Is using a competitor’s product as a reference unacceptable?

A reference can communicate a function or user need. We clarify the purpose, proposed differences and relevant rights. We cannot accept a request to knowingly infringe rights, counterfeit a brand or use confidential material obtained without permission. Changing a few visible details does not settle a rights question.

Can development start before I have test reports?

Yes, development and compliance preparation may begin before final reports exist. The intended product, users and destination market help define the required work. Commercial release depends on resolving the applicable verification requirements; an untested product cannot simply be described as compliant.

Must I disclose my end customer at the first enquiry?

A high-level brief may be enough for initial discussion. Reasonable commercial confidentiality is acceptable. We may need limited additional information to verify brand authority, permitted use or a material project risk. Agree the exchange and confidentiality arrangements before sending restricted information.

Can we change materials or simplify the product to reduce cost?

Yes, legitimate cost reduction can be assessed through material alternatives, simpler construction and revised processes. The proposal must retain necessary safety measures and be verified for its intended use. We will not agree to conceal substitutions or make production different from the version represented by its test evidence.

Are connected products, cameras or AI features excluded?

The feature alone does not determine project fit. We review intended use, information collected, required permissions and technical scope. Requests for covert unlawful surveillance, undisclosed data collection or malicious access cannot proceed. Software, connectivity and privacy responsibilities need explicit agreement.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Check Whether Your Project Fits Our Capabilities

Share enough non-confidential information to explain the product and the decision you need. We can then identify the relevant service route and information needed for a detailed review.

Use the inquiry form to prepare your brief, or share it through your existing project contact. Agree a confidential exchange before sending restricted drawings, code or customer information. Downloading a brief does not submit a project.

What we need from you

  • The product’s intended function, users, use environment and destination markets.
  • Your current stage and the design, engineering or manufacturing support required.
  • Your authority to use the design, brand, content and any existing tooling.
  • Known technical, safety, testing or confidentiality constraints.
  • Expected quantity, budget considerations, delivery target and approval responsibilities.
